Levon Aronian defeated Vassily Ivanchuk in round 3 of the European Club Cup earlier today (yesterday now, tournament time), and that puts his live rating at 2801.1. It's not official yet, but if he can maintain it through the end of the tournament he will be the sixth chess player in history with a 2800+ rating. (The others are Kasparov, Kramnik, Topalov, Anand and Carlsen.)

He's also just four tenths of a point behind Carlsen and 2.7 points behind Anand, so any ordering of these three players is possible by the end of tomorrow's games! Topalov at #5 and Ivanchuk at #6 aren't too terribly far behind either (if Ivanchuk had beaten Aronian instead, he might have passed Topalov or come very close), so some serious shake-ups at the top are entirely possible.
