Notre Dame 30 - Oklahoma 13
Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:46PM Oklahoma was #8 in the BCS poll, and playing at home. Didn't matter. That's eight victims down, and Notre Dame will move up to at least (and probably at most) #4 in tomorrow's new BCS poll. Four victims to go, not counting the bowl game; next week victim, the Pitt "Panthers".
Time for a tune!

Brian Kelly has done wonders at Notre Dame. And the Irish keep rolling along!
[DM: We just needed an Irishman to take over - problem solved!]
They're on quite a good run eh?
Its a quiet time for chess at the moment, but I see that there's a "friendly" 6 game match between two rising stars: Nepomniachtchi (World #44) & Andreikin (World #23 & former World Junior Champ). They're both 22 years old, and have been slowly moving up the charts over the last couple of years.
Andreikin won the first game with black in a long endgame where he won a piece for two pawns, and used his rook to greater effect to bring one of his remaining pawns home. The second game was drawn.
In this world where tournaments seem to be the preferred format I'm delighted to see these occasional matches (recall Kramnik vs Aronian not so long ago). Its the true test of a chess player, and that's why you need to win one to become the World Champion.
[DM: Thanks for mentioning that event. There are a few events I wanted to take note of, and that will be one of them.]
