Ukranian, Spanish and now Turkish GM Alexander Ipatov has won the World Junior Championship on tiebreaks over Hungarian GM Richard Rapport. Both finished with 10 out of 13, but Ipatov's superior tiebreaks gave him the title. (Pity they don't have playoffs instead, especially since young guys will have the energy for extra games!) Taking the bronze was Chinese GM Ding Liren with 9 points, also on tiebreak (over the Swede Nils Grandelius).

In the concurrent girls' event, four players tied for first with 9.5/13. In order from gold to heartbreak: Guo Qi, Nastassia Ziaziulkina, Anastasia Bodnaruk and Aulia Medina.
