Well done Notre Dame.
And, after a few days hiatus after the Olympiad, top level chess is back on the menu! First Grand Prix gets underway, with a number of great chess players lining up. Full lineup in London is:
Nakamura, Ivanchuk, Grischuk, Topolov, Wang Hao, Gelfand, Leko, Giri, Memedyarov, Dominguez, Adams (in for Svidler) and Kasimdzhanov.
There will be 6 Grand Prix tourneys, with each player playing in 4, and the winner and runner up will qualify for the Candidates tourney for the 2014 World Chess Championship. Last times GP in 2008-09 was the making of Levon Aronian, who won with a tourney to spare and continued his rise 'til he had his present lock on #2 in the world. Who will be the rising star this time?
