The Game of the Century?
Friday, July 3, 2015 at 5:55PM
A bit overblown, perhaps, but Chinese super-prodigy Wei Yi just won a really spectacular game against Lazaro Bruzon in round 2 of the Danzhou SuperGM tournament. See for yourself - the game is here, with my notes.

This game may be the young lad calling card like Fischer's Game of the Century but I agree there are a bunch of great games this century in the running. Grischuk's King march games at the Soviet Championship, Aronian vs Anand, Kamsky vs Svidler at the World Cup comes to mind ...
On my laptop (a 6 year old Dell Inspiron with pretty average processor, BTW), Houdini 1.5 x64 comes up with the rook sacrifice--and the +- evaluation--in about 8 sec.
Chess.com made a similar comment about engines being slow to identify the winning move 22.Rxf7. It's a surprising and brilliant sacrifice, no doubt, but I think that reasonably strong engines will both find it--and identify it as winning--very quickly.
A wonderful king hunt in any event!
