Yes, sports fans, it's time for the Notre Dame football propaganda to start anew! The student-athletes (cough, cough) of the country once again show their school spirit by smashing into each other at a high rate of speed, all with the aim of successfully transporting an generally properly inflated ball to the far end of the playing field. Those individuals most adept at enabling success in this cooperative endeavor might manage to cash in with lucrative NFL contracts before their bodies fall apart and their brains turn to mush. Year in and year out, few colleges do a better job of taking talented high school athletes and sending them on their way to the pros than the University of Notre Dame, and if that's not the aim of higher education, what is? (Oops, I forgot to set irony to zero. My bad.)

Notre Dame begins this year ranked #11 in the pre-season polls, and take on the Texas Longhorns in a home game starting now. Of course the Fighting Irish (enjoy the nickname now, before the P.C. police replace it with something anodyne) will obliterate them, as you can see for yourself on NBC.
