Apparently today is something called "Giving Tuesday". I'm not sure if this is something invented by merchants as a way of keeping commerce going: "Black Friday", Cyber Monday, and now this. Perhaps it's a sop: after spending loads of money on oneself and one's loved ones, we get to assuage our consciences by giving to others.
At any rate, I'll use the opportunity to say that while there are better causes than this, I have spent some time and money blogging for the past 12 and a half years, so I would not only not object, but would be grateful, for anyone who chose to donate to the blog. Many thanks in advance, and if not, well, as I said, there are other, needier people and causes who would certainly be grateful for your help.
