Actually, Wijk aan Zee is already there - if you want to freeze on the Dutch coastline, you can head there this very minute. What starts on Saturday is the great annual tournament there*, nowadays referred to as the Tata Steel Masters. In addition to the amateur event and other goings-on there will be two round-robin tournaments, the Masters event already mentioned and the Challengers tournament, whose winner secures promotion to the 2019 Masters tournament.

The Masters event is the main course, with 14 players including the last three world champions. Here's the full list:

The action begins this Saturday and runs through Sunday the 28, with rest days on the 18th, 22nd, and 25th. Predictions?

The Challengers event isn't as strong, but it's still very impressive in its own right, with 2718-rated Gujrathi Vidit, 2693-rated medical doctor Bassem Amin, and erstwhile 2700 Michal Krasenkow (2671) headlining the field. The event is always a treat for spectators with so many games to choose from, and I hope the tradition of having winners present their games before the live audience (and shown to us on the internet as well, of course) will take place this year.

* Two rounds won't be played in Wijk aan Zee for some reason. (Maybe the organizers hope that inconveniencing the players by having them play round 5 in Hilversum and round 10 in Groningen will get people like me to stop calling the event "Wijk aan Zee"? Probably not, but if that's their plan, well, it's not going to work.
