St. Louis, going away. They won convincingly, 10-6. Fabiano Caruana scored 3.5-.5, but perhaps the biggest hero was their fourth board, 2093-rated Julian Prolenko. In his first game, he barely lost to Baden-Baden's top seed, Georg Meier. In games 2 and 3 he drew with B-B's other two GMs, and then he defeated their fourth board, Inna Agrest (rated over 2200) in the game that clinched team victory.
St. Louis was not as strong as I thought they might be - Wesley So didn't play. Caruana was board 1, Benjamin Bok was on board 2, and a strong IM played board 3. Despite that, they were dominant, losing only three games in total - the one by Prolenko in round 1, and then boards 2 and 3 lost in the last round, with Bok's loss coming on a mouse slip in a perfectly playable position. Congratulations to St. Louis on a well-deserved victory!
