It would be an interesting and noteworthy event even in "normal" times, but with almost all events taking place online and at short time controls it's nice to see that the Chinese Championships featured a classical time control (90'+30") and apparently took place in person in Xinghua. Yu Yangyi tied with Lu Shanglei and Wei Yi for first place, but came in first on tiebreak by having the best score in the battle of the three - Lu drew both games while Yu beat Wei.
Also noteworthy, while there was a separate women's event (won by Tan Zhongyi, a women's world championship finalist in 2018 [UPDATE: and the women's world champion from 2017-2018]), women's world champion Ju Wenjun played in the open ("men's") event and finished 4th, behind the leading troika. That's an impressive result, though it should be noted that this wasn't a full strength event - no Ding Liren, Wang Hao, or Bu Xiangzhi, for example.
