A couple of posts ago I talked a tiny bit of pro-USA trash vis-a-vis the next Chess Olympiad, but we will certainly have plenty of competition. One country that will give us some headaches - maybe not this year, but soon, and for a long time to come - is India (which is where this year's Olympiad will be - yikes!).

They will be especially dangerous if Viswanathan Anand plays (he doesn't always), but whether he does or not they have a scary roster of up-and-coming players who will surely be a factor in top chess for years to come. For more about their rising stars, including Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, and their prospects for the coming years, have a look at this article.
