I have been working to help students improve their chess for more than a quarter of a century, and have been a professional chess coach and teacher since 1997. I have had the privilege of helping players from beginner all the way up to those just below a master rating, including every skill level in between. Additionally, I'm accustomed to working with students of practically all ages, and have worked with five-year-old children all the way up to retired adults well into their 60s.
If you're a talented, up-and-coming junior looking for a coach, I can help. My students have won grade state championships and one even participated in a world youth championship. (See the next paragraph too.)
If you're in the Michiana area and are looking for a coach for your school, I have considerable experience here. When I lived in New York I worked for Chess-in-the-Schools, where I helped coach the M.S. 118 team that won the 1997/8 National K-8 Championship and came in second by half a point the next year.
Maybe you're an adult looking to take up the game in a serious way, to regain the momentum you had when you were a youngster, or a retiree looking for activities that will help you stay mentally sharp. I can help you too. Some of my adult students have enjoyed significant successes, too. Recently, one student reached his highest rating in 18 years, while another has gained almost 100 rating points in the last 6 months!
If you're interested in lessons and live in the Michiana area, we can arrange to have lessons in person. If you're not in this area, though, no problem! We can meet on any of a number of chess servers (supplemented by Skype), while still another option I use with some of my busiest - and most successful adult students - is to do video presentations of their games. The videos can be downloaded and watched on any standard media player, and my text-base analysis will be sent along as well.
