Tulsa 28, Self-Destructive Pretend Football Players 27
We couldn't have done it any better if our players were getting paid to throw the game. And seriously, did Brian Kelly call for his freshman, second-string quarterback to throw in the end zone, into double coverage, in a situation where the standard operating procedure even at the pro level is to run safe plays and kick a field goal as time runs out? Let's see...risky play with a talented but very inexperienced QB who had already thrown two interceptions in the game vs. relying on a kicker who has hit every field goal this season. Hmm...tough decision.
I wonder if Irish fans can borrow some paper bags from New Orleans fans, from the old "Aints" days.
Next week: Bye
Next loss (in two weeks): Utah

I was watching, and thought of you at the end there. Couldn't believe that call. Who passes in that situation?!?
Another game like last week's (with four Drew Brees interceptions) and the paper bags may be coming back into fashion down in New Orleans.
still support from cologne.go irish!
Brian Kelly gave a bizarre explanation for the call in his post-game presser. He said, “That’s what we do. We play aggressive.” OK, sure. But there is a difference between aggressive and suicidal. If he’d wanted to get the ball closer, he could have called a screen pass, which was practically certain to gain positive yardage with a very low likelihood of a turnover.
It has to be one of the dumbest play calls of the year, not just because it didn’t work, but in a game-theory sense. (In other words, it would have been dubious regardless of the outcome.)
Shouldn't it really be "self-destructive pretend coaching staff?"
