Reggio Emilia, Round 7: Vallejo Caught by Gashimov
Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:51PM
I mean that in two senses: Gashimov beat Vallejo in this round, and as a result they are tied for first with 4.5/7, with two rounds to go. Onischuk (drew Caruana), Movsesian (drew a wild game with Morozevich) and Navara (beat Ivanchuk) are all just half a point back. Short beat Godena, and is tied with Caruana on 50%. Ivanchuk and Morozevich have 3, and Godena has 1.

There's either a lot of daring or daft chess in this event, I'm not sure which. Short and Ivanchuk are on the daft side methinks.
Maybe on the "draft" side, after a bit too much pub crawling?
