This Week's ChessVideos Show: Hennig-Schara Gambit Tactics
In this week's ChessVideos show I present some fascinating lines - lines that are very dangerous for White - in the Hennig-Schara Gambit (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c5 4.cxd5 cxd4!?). It isn't a "winning with" presentation, as I also point out the relevant alternatives for White and don't claim that Black is at least equal in every variation. It does seem to me, however, that Black has a playable position with correct play, and there are many lines where White plays reasonable, plausible moves and winds up with a lost position. So if you're looking for a sharp line you can use as an occasional weapon, this might just be the video for you.
The show is here and available for free (free registration required) and on-demand for at least the next month or so. Enjoy!

Last year IM Bronznik has published a book on the HSG. It's in German. As he points out Prudnikova-Voiska, Azov 1990 (confirmed by two corr. games) spoils Black's fun. Bronznik thinks 13.b4 Bxb4 14.Qb3 Be6 better than 14...g4 15.Nd4. If he is right all your enjoyable analysis is kind of superfluous .....
Another option for White I find amazingly hard to meet is 13.a3 g4 14.Nh4. At first sight the Knight looks lame here, but it does block an eventual pawn storm. White will follow up with Qd1-c2 and then quite often Nh4-f5 is very strong.
