The Return of Borislav Ivanov
Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:04AM
Many people maintained their faith in Lance Armstrong for a long time, and faithful Linus van Pelt is still waiting for the Great Pumpkin to return. I'm sure Borislav Ivanov has his defenders too - though I bet they haven't had to play him in a tournament with money or norms on the line. Anyway, it seems he has unretired for the moment, and readers can catch up on his most recent adventures here and here.

This is starting to become amusing. Everyone knows he is cheating, he knows that everyone knows, and he's just parading around because they can't seem to find an effective way of dealing with the situation. I wonder how long this can go on... I'm already surprised his run has lasted this long.
It seems reasonably certain that the guy is cheating, but the whole "rule enforcement" atmosphere around his various episodes has had a Keystone Kops vibe to it. Why can't some tourney official actually get his hands on the device Boris is using for conclusive analysis?
Color me completely unsurprised that this clown was just kidding about his 'retirement'. I will give him his due credit on his cleverness at cheating, if not at chess.
I don't think it's amusing, I find it hard to believe that he's still being allowed to enter and wreck tournaments. It's shameful. He should be banned for life, immediately. What an effronterous [DM: Bleep!].
The bright side of this Ivanov affair is that it will force FIDE to come up with a procedure for testing players for cheating. Once there is a clear policy, players can either submit to it or not join tournaments. Without clear guidelines, players like Ivanov can say that they are being unfairly treated.
I agree with sorenzo1, and in a way Ivanov might deserve credit for it? Thinking out of the box: Maybe this was Ivanov's intention, it could even be that he secretly benefits from the fact that his countryman FM Lilov became well-known and sales of his Chessbase CDROMs might have increased. That's obviously speculation.
The downside is that it might cause paranoia, every amateur beating a GM is now suspicious.
im just going to say I feel insulted for linus van pelt, and would consider a lawsuit as no amount of comfort from my blanket can console me for the damage done by being associated with two frauds such as Armstrong and Ivanov here.
5 cents for sessions with Lucy just aren't enough either
I am sure the Great Pumpkin will not be too happy to hear of all this, sides you cant provethe Great Pumpkin does not exist. Can only prove Armstrong is a fraud and well this guy is as close to proven as can be without the device being taken
If you see a red dog house flying towards your home I highly suggest you find cover
